WORLD RENOWNED ARTIST & PERFORMER JON LANGFORD TO PERFORM IN KENOSHA, WISCONSIN

Bad Luck Jonathan

On October 25th, 2014 Kenosha P.L.A.N.T. (Promoting Live Art & Networking Talent) presents Jon Langford’s BAD LUCK JONATHAN at Fusion 5014 7th Ave. Kenosha, WI 53140.

Jon Langford (born October 11, 1957) is a prolific and respected visual artist. His punk rock instincts and unparalleled draftsmanship come together in a painting style that is distinctive, engaging and challenging. His paintings appear on cd’s (his own and other’s), book covers, as well as beer bottles for the Dogfish Head Brewery.
His multimedia music/spoken-word/video performance, “The Executioner’s Last Songs,” premiered at Alverno College in 2005, and has been performed in several other cities, including Austin. He illustrated the comic strip Great Pop Things under the pseudonym Chuck Death. Since 2005 he has co-hosted a weekly radio program, “The Eclectic Company,” broadcast on WXRT 93.1 FM in Chicago. He has contributed to NPR’s This American Life.

Langford is from Wales but has lived in Chicago since the early 1990’s. Langford was originally the drummer for the punk band The Mekons when it formed at the University of Leeds in 1977, but he later took up the guitar as other band members left. Since the mid-1980s he has been one of the leaders in incorporating folk and country music into punk rock. He has released a number of solo recordings as well as recordings with other bands outside of The Mekons, most notably the Waco Brothers, which he co-founded after moving to Chicago in the early 1990s.

He is involved with the Chicago-basedindependent record label Bloodshot.
The event will begin at 7p.m. with an art show and exhibit by Jon Langford featuring his painted works. He is best known for his striking portraits of country & rock music icons including Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley but his interests and subjects range far and wide. Music will be provided by local singer/songwriter Glenn Morrison.

At 8:30 BAD LUCK JONATHAN takes the stage.
Jon Langford stumbled into his latest project BAD LUCK JONATHAN on a remote Island in the Pacific North West.A post gig drinks party had dragged on til 3 in the morning and Langford craved his bed poo-pooing suggestions that he and his band of local hired guns drive half way across the Island and play songs around a bonfire. Former WHISKEYTOWN guitarist Phil Wandscher and Martin “Blueshammer” Billheimer were shocked to witness the old man’s creeping ideological weakness and berated him. “Have you forgotten what its all about maaaan?!” they cried
in outraged unison.Yes, for a moment he had forgotten but out there on the island in the dancing orange flames of primal pagan combustion BAD LUCK JONATHAN was born. Voodoo socialist Space Rock for this moment alone!
Waco Brothers Mayor Jo Jo and Captain Giggles provide the reliably muscular rhythm section.

Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased at kenoshafusion.com.
