Dear Deadline – BeExposed! to the Arts at Fusion

Dear Deadline

Christian, acoustic-based band from Kenosha, Wisconsin. You can find our music on iTunes at itunes.com/deardeadline

Dear Deadline was originally formed by best friends Ethan Corrigan and Armand Border, who enjoyed writing music and performing on the streets of downtown Kenosha. They later added members Aaron Shanahan, Hannah Yonke, and Rachel Czaplicki to expand their musical horizon. Since formation, the band has enjoyed group worship sessions and Bible studies along with songwriting. They have also had recording time at Skies Fall Studios. Later on, Hannah and Rachel went off to college and it was just Aaron, Ethan, and Armand. They have been recording an album and are pumped to release it.

From “Mix It” Living Light School of Worship Benefit Concert 2014 at UW-Parkside

Swelling from a subtle harmony in the choir of current songwriters, Naomi Marie has developed a fresh and dynamic musical personality. From simple, light-hearted acoustic ballads to powerhouse piano-led performances, her voice uniquely captures a wide array of melodic expressions. Compiled with each song’s solid instrumental core, Naomi Marie writes with bold vulnerability and lyrical depth. Taking inspiration from sonnets and soulful jazz singers, this artist has serenaded audiences coast to coast in sidewalk cafes, old town pubs and city-best venues.

Juan Becerra – BeExposed! to the Arts at Fusion – September, 2014

Juan Becerra

Juan Becerra says he is not an artist. He just paints for relaxation and enjoyment. He came to the United States from Jalisco, Mexico, 28 years ago and has lived in Kenosha for the last four years. Juan has a day job, and works with furniture on the side, but when he wants to relax, he paints beautiful pictures.

Juan began drawing pictures with colored pencils when he was 7 years old, and he has been creating works of art ever since. His pictures, which he paints with oils, is rich with color and depict the beauty of that which is natural – the trees, the flowers, the land, and its people. He paints not to sell his work, but just to relax – to calm his spirit. Through painting he is able to share the beauty of his homeland, the places he has seen, and the joy that this expression brings.

Kaitlyn M. Ulmer’s Flarf Poetry – BeExposed! to the Arts at Fusion event…

Kaitlyn Ulmer

Kaitlyn M. Ulmer writes poetry because she has a short attention span. She enjoys stealing words and phrases from other places, and loves when people read too much into nonsensical verses. Most recently she has been published by the Southport Press, performed poetry at the Sipos and Young open mic, and participated in the Kenosha Writers’ Guild. Future projects include a series of found flarf poetry (look it up) and the never-ending search for a decent spoken word venue.

This trio from the northern suburbs of Illinois is proud to perform at Fusion for the first time. They are an offshoot of another jazz combo from the area, “Yardbird’s Dilemma”. With Aidan Dooley on the bass, Conor McKenzie on drums, and Kyle Schardt on guitar, they seek to bring jazz to all who will listen, with a sound and style reminiscent of the masters, yet infused with a different timbre of their own individuality.

After having a very successful summer with Yardbird’s Dilemma, the three members sought to finish the year with a show of their own. Since meeting in their high school jazz band, these musicians desire to take their own creations out into the world, as so many before them have done. Aidan and Conor will be seniors at Lakes High School next year, and Kyle will be attending the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University to pursue a career in music. Their best is yet to come!

A “BeExposed! to the Arts” event features musicians, poets, visual artists, and other creatives. Since October of 2008, this on-and-off performance series spotlights local creative talent from Kenosha and surrounding areas.
